Having recurring dreams about being on a tropical island in Hawaii? Maui is your answer to all of your holiday wishes.
Hawaii is one of those destinations your mind travels to when someone says ‘tropcial escape’. The island of Maui is the second largest island in Hawaii, with millions (yes millions) of tourists travelling here yearly for a taste of the tropical, relaxed lifestyle they bode. With its flawless beaches, incredible culture and history, and adrenaline worthy activities, you could easily spend a month long holiday here.
From exciting family trips to romantic honeymoon getaways, Maui never disappoints to bring you back a next time. We’ve listed 7 things in an easy travel guide you must do when you head on a month in Maui:
Whale watching – Maui is the number one location in Hawaii to see gorgeous humpback whales migrating for the winter months. This is definitely a ‘once in a lifetime’ event, capturing the beauty of Maui’s natural environment and all the amazing feats of nature surrounding its shores. There are plenty of places to watch these breathtaking whales in action, check out all the different places to see them.
Zip lining – Wherever you are in Maui, you can bet there is a zipline near you, waiting… A signature activity to do in Hawaii, the adventure is as thrilling as it is beautiful. This is the perfect way to take in the views, and natural beauty of the island without driving cross country, soaring above the lush landscape Maui has to offer. Road to Hana – The general consensus for tourists is that the Road to Hana is a must-do. End of story. Driving along this road from the North Shore to East Maui is a daylong activity, and one you won’t be quick to forget. From the gorgeous scenery, beach breaks, waterfalls and lush jungle, this road gives a rare glimpse into Old Hawaii, the natural wonders and Hawaiian culture simply speaking for itself.
Pa’iloa beach – More commonly known as Black Sand Beach, this is one of the most incredible sights you will see, anywhere in the world. As part of the Wai’anapanapa State Park, also enjoy the sea-sculpted lava shelves, ancient Hawaiian burial sites and sheltered caves in the vicinity, taking in the sites you’ll only see if you’re in the know (you are welcome!)… Other honourable beach mentions in Maui are Honolua Bay (surfing and snorkelling), Palauea Beach, and Kapalua Bay.
Tropical escape for a lighter pocket (Kahana Falls) – If you’re after a more demure place to stay, check out Kahana Falls on the west coast of Maui. Bringing the tropical rainforest into your accommodation experience, with waterfalls, landscaping, and nicely sized rooms, you’ll hardly want to leave the place if you can help it!
Lap it up in luxury (Four Seasons Resort in Wailea) – Seeing is believing with this incredible resort. With top to toe renovations, the Four Seasons has upgraded your stay from 5 star, to all the stars imaginable. Of course, it’s not cheap, but are you really thinking of cost when you get to stay in fully serviced paradise for a month? Visitors rave about the resort, and if that isn’t enough encouragement, it’s literally right on the beach…
Get gorgeously tanned (the Sunescape way)– Sunescape’s tanning range takes inspiration from destinations like the beautiful Maui.
